Early Success of MG Select
JSW MG Motor’s luxury EV retail chain MG Select has achieved an impressive start in the Indian premium segment. The brand has recorded sales of around 2,029 units, driven by exclusive luxury outlets and premium product offerings. While still behind BMW’s 3,500 units, the performance is seen as a strong entry into the competitive luxury EV space.
Sales Performance and Key Models
The company’s flagship models have played a crucial role in this growth. The MG Cyberster has emerged as one of the fastest-selling sports cars in India, with 256 units sold through the MG Select channel. Additionally, the MG M9 Presidential Limousine has attracted high-end customers looking for premium comfort and exclusivity. Overall, the company recorded a 32% year-to-date (YTD) growth between January and November 2025, highlighting strong demand.
Strategy and Market Position
JSW MG Motor has strategically positioned itself as a strong player in the luxury EV segment, securing the second position in the market. The company is focusing on exclusive experience centres, such as its new outlet in Surat, to enhance customer engagement. The demand for premium models like Cyberster is so high that it currently has a waiting period of 4–5 months, signaling strong consumer interest. This rapid growth has also made rival brands more cautious and competitive.
Future Plans and Vision
Looking ahead, JSW MG Motor aims to significantly expand its EV footprint. The company has set a target that by 2030, around 30% of its total sales will come from EVs and hybrid vehicles. Its total EV sales have already crossed the 1 lakh mark, indicating steady adoption. Meanwhile, models like the Windsor EV continue to dominate monthly sales charts, reinforcing the brand’s position in India’s growing EV ecosystem.
