Overview
The Uttar Pradesh Census 2027 will begin with a digital self-enumeration phase from May 7 to May 21, 2027. For the first time, citizens will be able to fill in their details online from home through the portal se.census.gov.in. Around 3.89 lakh house listing blocks have been created across the state to ensure systematic and accurate data collection.
New Features
This census will be highly technology-driven. Data will be collected using mobile-based systems, and real-time monitoring will be carried out through the CMMS portal. A full caste census will also be included starting February 9, 2027, making the exercise more comprehensive. After the self-enumeration phase, door-to-door verification will take place from May 22 to June 20. A total of 5.47 lakh personnel, including 4.5 lakh enumerators, have been deployed for this large-scale operation.
Process Explained
The process has been simplified with digital tools. Citizens can register using their mobile numbers and fill out forms available in 16 languages. They will also have the option to tag their homes on a map for accurate location identification. Each household will receive a unique code, which will be used later for verification purposes.
Regional Distribution
The distribution of house listing blocks varies across the state. Cities like Prayagraj and Bareilly have the highest number of blocks, while districts such as Mahoba and Chitrakoot have comparatively fewer. This distribution is based on population size and regional requirements.
Importance and Impact
The digital approach will make data collection faster and more accurate. It will help the government design better policies and ensure efficient allocation of resources. The inclusion of caste data is expected to provide deeper insights into social and economic structures, aiding targeted welfare measures.
