CNBC: Google is facing a lawsuit claiming it illegally tracked users’ private messages through its AI tool, Gemini. The complaint says that earlier, Gmail, Chat, and Meet users could choose whether to turn on Gemini, but in October, Google secretly enabled it for everyone without their permission. The lawsuit claims Gemini can access emails, attachments, chats, and call data, and users must manually dig into settings to turn it off. This, according to the case, violates California’s privacy law, which bans recording private communication without consent. Google has not yet responded publicly. The case has been filed in a US federal court in California.
