Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the world's highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir on June 6, 2025. This monumental event marks a significant milestone in India's infrastructure development and aims to enhance connectivity in the region.
Engineering Marvel: The Chenab Bridge stands at a height of 359 meters above the riverbed, surpassing the Eiffel Tower in stature. Spanning 1,315 meters in length, it is designed to withstand seismic activities and high wind speeds, reflecting a remarkable feat of modern engineering.
Strategic Connectivity: As part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, the bridge will significantly reduce travel time between Katra and Srinagar to approximately three hours, facilitating smoother movement for residents and tourists alike.
Anji Bridge Inauguration: Alongside the Chenab Bridge, PM Modi will also inaugurate the Anji Bridge, India's first cable-stayed railway bridge, further enhancing the region's rail infrastructure.
Launch of Vande Bharat Trains: The Prime Minister will flag off new Vande Bharat Express trains between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar, aiming to improve rail mobility and promote tourism in the region.
Infrastructure Development: The inauguration is part of a broader initiative involving infrastructure projects worth over ₹46,000 crore in Katra, including road widening, flyover constructions, and the establishment of a medical college in Reasi district.
This series of developments underscores the government's commitment to bolstering infrastructure and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, fostering economic growth and regional integration.
