Formerly known as Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are integral to India's Ayushman Bharat initiative, aiming to provide comprehensive primary healthcare services nationwide. These centers focus on preventive, promotive, curative, palliative, and rehabilitative services, ensuring universal and free access to primary health services.
As of December 10, 2024, 175,418 AAMs have been established and operationalized across India, surpassing the initial target of 150,000 centers. By July 31, 2024, these centers recorded a cumulative footfall of over 3.17 billion individuals. They conducted extensive screenings, including Hypertension, diabetes, oral cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer and others.
