The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is a regional economic bloc of post-Soviet nations formed to promote economic integration — similar in concept to the European Union (EU) but centered around Russia’s leadership. It was founded on 1 January 2015 with headquarters in Moscow, Russia. It is founded on the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union signed in Astana, May 29, 2014. It replaced earlier integration frameworks like the Eurasian Customs Union and Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC).
